Encore pitches in!Posted: 08 September 2010
With Encore as proud sponsors of the first tee, a total of 144 players formed teams of four and teed off in a bid to claim the title at the club's popular yearly fundraiser. In addition to regular golf balls, teams are also issued with a special yellow ball, with players taking it in turns to play a hole using it. That player then scores double points for that hole, but if during any point the ball is lost, the team forfeits their chance to boost their score for the rest of the round. The team with the overall highest number of points at the end of the match is declared the winner. The club hoped to raise in the region of £5,000. This year the money will be split between Hospice at Home (part of Arthur Rank), which is to launch a service in Ely, and St Nicholas in Bury St Edmunds. |
