Greener solutions to estate management

Posted: 07 October 2008

Recent energy-saving measures installed by Encore at both The Belvedere and The Triangle (Warren Close) in Cambridge have reaped environmental dividends.

Here are just a few examples of what we've done:

  • Movement sensors on every floor at The Belvedere have significantly reduced the amount of time the lights are on, curbing energy usage and saving electricity. In turn, reduced expenditure on energy bills has enabled the scheme to pay for itself in its first year.
  • Timers on the landings at The Triangle have had an equally successful effect.
  • Having monitored carefully the amount of recycling being done at The Belvedere, Encore has implemented an additional recycling centre to cope with demand.

Encore's Gordon Ferguson said: "We are constantly looking at ways to achieve best value for money. It has been well documented in the press lately that utility costs are rising, and we hope that these measures go some way to demonstrating our proactive approach towards good management, as well as our commitment to ensuring sites are 'greener'."
