We are delighted to be supporting the four-man crew of "Heads Together and Row" as they compete in an unsupported 3,000 mile row from the Canary Islands to Antigua as part of the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge - billed as "The World's Toughest Row".
The crew are raising money for Heads Together - a new campaign spearheaded by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex, to end stigma surrounding mental health and change the national conversation on mental health and well-being.
This joint campaign brings together two of the UKs leading mental health charities: Mind and Combat Stress, as well as the Marine Conservation Society (MCS) - chosen in recognition of the nature of this particular challenge.
The crew - including the owner of a property on an Encore-managed development - have just 100 days left of training before they set off on a mental and physical challenge which will see them rowing in pairs in two hour shifts around the clock.
The race is due to start on 12 December and expected to take between 40 and 90 days. Heads Together and Row are on a World Record Attempt to become the fastest mixed four to row the Atlantic east to west. Whilst out there they will face blisters, saltwater sores, seasickness and bruised and battered bodies all while being at the mercy of the elements which could result in 40ft waves, 40˙ heat, hurricane strength winds and capsize.
Encore founder and director Neil Robinson commented:"We are all getting behind the crew in what will undoubtedly prove to be a life-changing experience for them. We've been following their training programme since early 2018 and are keeping Encore staff up to date with their progress by distributing their blogs within our staff newsletter. We wish them well as they enter the last stage of training and embark on the race itself in December."
