The inaugural Cambridge Pride event will take place on Jesus Green on 8 June 2019 and we are absolutely delighted that as a Cambridge-based business, Encore is supporting it.
Organised by The Pink Festival Group, Cambridge Pride is a free event for the whole community to enjoy. With a main stage featuring up and coming as well as established acts, a band stand and wellbeing centre, youth tent and pop-up cinema there'll be something for everyone.
The event gets underway with a river parade on punts which will set off from Quayside at 11am - marking the first ever river-based Pride Parade in the UK. Activities on Jesus Green kick off at midday and will run until around 8pm.
Confirmed acts include the BBC's "All Together Now" judge "Mr Fabulous", singer-songwriter Craig Maddox and the award-winning Cambridge-based Keltrix who will all perform on the main stage. A band stand will feature local DJs while the popup cinema will be screening LGBT+ short films.
"The directors of Encore are really pleased to be supporting Cambridge Pride," said Encore founder Neil Robinson. "It looks like it's going to be a fantastic day for the whole community - and we hope to see as many of our staff there as possible."
According to event organisers Cambridge has the highest population of LGBT+ residents in Britain outside of London with 1.8% of people (more than 15,000) in the region identifying as LGBT+.
