Encore staff are celebrating after being Highly Commended in two categories of the prestigious ARMA ACE awards, announced at a black-tie awards dinner at London’s Tobacco Dock on Friday 6th July 2018. The accolades were in the National/Largest Managing Agent category, and for the work of Encore concierge Ben Ashdown in the On-Site Staff Member of the Year award.
The ARMA ACE Awards are organised by the Association of Residential Managing Agents, the leading trade association for residential leasehold management in England and Wales, with the aim of celebrating excellence, achievement and professionalism across the industry. Encore also reached the shortlist for two further awards – Employer of the Year and Service Charge Accountant of the Year.
The National/Largest Managing Agent category was open only to major managing agents that are full ARMA Members responsible for more than 8,000 properties around the UK. The judges were looking for companies that could prove they had strategic vision, excellent staff training and development, and which focused on their clients’ needs to provide a professional service, good communication and value for money.
Encore faced tough competition in the category, but the judges said that Encore provided “a professional entry, where they had built their case around their five values”.
In the second category, On-Site Staff Member of the Year, the judges praised Ben Ashdown - concierge at King Edward VII Estate in Sussex - for the initiatives he introduced to the development, which they felt would help to create and sustain a thriving community among his residents. “He has a keen eye for detail and a meticulous approach,” the judges added.
Founding director of Encore Neil Robinson said: “We are absolutely delighted to have been Highly Commended in two completely different categories, in such a competitive industry. The judges have recognised that our investment in our staff goes hand-in-hand with the professionalism of our service – our underlying philosophy of managing every property as if we lived there ourselves clearly results in motivated staff and a well-maintained environment that is pleasant for tenants and provides value for money for leaseholders. Ben has done a splendid job to help build a cohesive new community at King Edward VII Estate, and we also want to congratulate our Senior Client Accountant Sian Langley for being shortlisted for Service Charge Accountant of the Year. It’s the loyalty, enthusiasm and professionalism of all our staff that really makes Encore special.”
Dr Nigel Glen, CEO of ARMA, said of this year’s Awards: “The quality of entries has been outstanding, setting the standard for companies that wish to be recognised for achieving excellence, best practice in their field, and ultimately leading to the improvement in the lives of leaseholders.”
“We pride ourselves on offering a completely individual service for every client,” says co-founder and director Stephen Chard, “whether that’s managing a historical building with extensive communal and leisure facilities such as King Edward VII estate, or providing simple maintenance on a rural housing estate. What sets us apart from other companies is our team of vetted, multi-skilled, uniformed caretakers and porters who quickly become familiar faces at the particular estate or development that they work on, providing a cost-effective and trustworthy all-round service for leaseholders.”
