I've always believed that property management should be about more than just buildings and bottom lines. We're in the business of looking after people's homes - but we've also got a responsibility to look after the planet they're on.
That's why I'm really proud that we've just earned our Green Achiever 5-Star Diamond Banner Status for the fifth year running.
Here's the thing: we manage places where real people live. That makes us custodians, sure - but it also gives us an opportunity. We can actually shape communities and help reduce our collective impact on the environment at the same time.
Across the country, we're working with communities on everything from green energy schemes to creating wildlife habitats. We're helping manage EV charging points, finding ways to conserve water, cutting down on waste, and making recycling easier for residents. Every day, our team uses their expertise to help communities achieve their own sustainability wins.
The Green Achiever scheme does two things for us. First, it recognises the work we're doing in the communities we serve. But it also looks at how we run our own business - how we encourage our people to think sustainably, how we operate with the lightest possible footprint. It pushes us to identify where we can do better.
The fact that we've held onto this 5-Star Diamond Banner says something about the journey we've been on. We started at 4-Star back in 2017, moved up to 5-Star in 2019, and when they introduced the Diamond Banner for companies really pushing the envelope, we made sure we qualified for that too.
Every year, Green Achiever sets new goals. Every year, we meet them - along with the ones we set for ourselves. And that matters to me because it means we're not just ticking boxes or resting on our laurels. We're constantly looking for ways to do better.
Because at the end of the day, this isn't about awards. It's about doing right by the people and places we serve, and leaving things better than we found them.
